MARQUESITAS Y CHURROS

Looking for some sweet treats to satisfy your after-dinner cravings? Look no further, next to the town square (or "la plaza") in downtown Isla Mujeres, you will find pop-up stands serving up fresh marquesitas and churros every evening.

“What is a marquesita?” we hear you say - well, marquesitas, from the Yucatan region of Mexico, are a crunchy, crepe style dessert rolled with your choice of fillings, including chocolate, condensed milk, cheese, bananas, and much more...

Churros are a deep-fried dough, often sold covered in sugar, these are perfect for sharing!

Both marquesitas and churros are a classic sweet evening snack in Mexico, often being sold in town squares and close to parks and main streets. Take a chance and try out these delicious treats and see if they satisfy your sweet tooth!
