CITY UPDATES
The city of Isla Mujeres is constantly working on keeping our island clean and safe, which contributes to the beautification of the island. Their wish is for everyone to enjoy the beauty of the island.

SEAWEED CLEAN UP
Recently, the Caribbean and Cancun areas have been prone to some of the worst Sargasso seaweed buildup due to the winds and the currents coming from South America. However, the currents surrounding Isla Mujeres help keep our tiny island mostly free of Sargasso. The city also works day and night with cleanup teams with the special tools needed to make sure all of the beaches around Isla are in perfect and enjoyable conditions. Please thank them when you see them working hard in the sun, they also help make this beach the 7th nicest in the world. Thank You to them!

NEW SAFETY WATER LINE
To ensure safety and boat/swimmers are able to enjoy their time in our waters, you'll notice many lifeguards on the beach walking the shoreline, or on kayaks by the buoy, markers to ensure boats and swimmers are in safe areas to enjoy a good beach vacation.

CLEANED UP CITY DUMP
The City dump is where all of our trash and usage from the island is stored. It's been a hard issue, as it was a transfer station and not an actual dump until the city worked hard to improve it. They worked to get truck after truck, after truck, loaded with waste out in the middle of the night and to the car ferry to transfer to the mainland dump…As of today, they make sure the city dump is 100% cleaned and not overloaded with the excess it was before.

DOWNTOWN PLAZA
We all love a nice walk down the city, well now we have a new and improved Downtown City plaza! Here guests and families can come to enjoy and watch a good game of basketball with new decor and upgrades.

STORM SAFETY
We all know how storms and hurricanes can happen anytime, and they can cause flooding and damage all around the island and the world. The city and local fire department work hard, to stay informed and up to date with all upcoming storms, while also making sure the island is prepared and ready to pump out high water levels and get power and clean water to the entire island. They ensure the island will be back to normal daily life as soon as possible.

MOSQUITOES PREVENTION
The city has been working hard to make sure all trash and stagnant water and areas where "mosquito beds” can happen are cleaned. They also will go around with smoke machines to kill high mosquito areas and ensure they do not spread out on the island. Ensuring the island is safe for all to enjoy!

SAFETY PATROL FORCE
Isla Mujeres continues to be a safe place for guests from all over the world, to visit and enjoy the beautiful “Pueblo Magico” (Magic Town). The city is working hard to ensure safety is always the main priority.
