Are you planning to celebrate the festive season in Isla Mujeres? With the holidays already in full swing on the island, and Christmas and New Year’s Eve just around the corner, many visitors are looking for ideas on what to do and where to eat during the final weeks of 2025.


From holiday dinners to relaxed beach days and New Year celebrations, here’s a helpful guide to spending the season on the island.

Christmas and New Year Restaurant Reservations

If you’re planning to dine out over Christmas or New Year, making a table reservation in advance is highly recommended.

The festive season is a popular time to visit Isla Mujeres, and while most restaurants remain open, some operate with limited hours or special menus on December 24th, 25th, 31st, and January 1st. Reserving ahead can help avoid last-minute surprises and ensure you have plans in place.


(Please note that table reservations through Taste of Isla are not available at Agave, Lola Valentina, Romano's, Ocean’s, or Xantolo, on December 24th, 25th, 31st, or January 1st. At Rusticco table reservations are only accepted before 7PM on thesee dates. Olivia will be closed on December 25th and January 1st, and Javi's Cantina will be closed December 24th and 25th).


Christmas Eve Dinner Options

For those looking for a special Christmas Eve dinner, here are some great options available to book with us...


Mayan Beach Club is hosting a holiday dinner on December 24th from 6PM to 10PM, featuring a special Christmas menu. The cost is 3,585 MXN per couple. You can enjoy a delicious meal on the beach, with ocean views.

Yaakun is also offering a special Christmas Eve dinner, with sharing packages or individual options, featuring delicious regional dishes from the Yucatan Peninsula.



At Oceanvs Beach Club you can also enjoy dinner on the beach on Christmas Eve. A special four course Christmas Eve dinner is available, including a glass of wine, priced at $150 USD per person.

 ZaZa Beach Club are hosting a late dinner and party on December 24th from 10PM. For 750 MXN per person you can enjoy dinner with a glass of prosecco included, and an after dinner party with a DJ. When you make a general reservation with us we will send you an invoice.



How to Spend Christmas Day in Isla Mujeres

Christmas Day is a great opportunity to enjoy Isla Mujeres at a slower pace. Spending the day at a beach club is a popular option, with several offering comfortable spots by the sea where you can relax and enjoy the Caribbean setting.



Many visitors also choose to mark the special day by renting a luxury yacht for the day, spending time on the water with family or friends and seeing the island from a different perspective.

Getting to and from Isla Mujeres over Christmas & New Year

The Ultramar Ferry has released its Christmas and New Year schedule. Services will run as usual, except for earlier last departures from Cancun and Isla Mujeres on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, and later first departures on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Christmas Lights in Downtown Isla Mujeres

A walk around the main square in downtown Isla Mujeres is worth adding to your plans during the holidays. The Christmas tree and festive lights in the main square were switched on at the end of November and are especially nice to visit after dark.


New Year’s Eve Dining Options

Looking for the perfect New Year’s Eve dinner? Several restaurants on the island are serving festive menus on December 31st that you can reserve through Taste of Isla...


Coco Restaurant & Beach Bar are hosting a special New Year's Eve dinner from 7pm, with a DJ on December 31st, for 1720 MXN per person.



Bahia del Rey, located mid-island will have a special dinner and fireworks by the sea to ring in the New Year.



Mayan Beach Club are hosting a New Year's Eve celebration with a special four course menu, with live rock/pop music, a photo area and more. Dinner is 1750 MXN per person, from 7PM - 11PM.



Yaakun also has a special New Year's Eve menu for a special dinner from the Yucatan.


Enjoy New Year's Eve on Playa Norte at the beach club Oceanvs. They are offering a four course menu with a bottle of wine, and a welcome cocktail for $200 USD per person.

Loretta’s in Punta Sur, Isla Mujeres’ newest beach club, are also ringing in the New Year on the beach with views across the bay and a four course menu priced at 2,100 MXN per person.

Other venues offering New Year’s Eve dinners include ZaZa Beach Club, When you make a general reservation with us we will send you an invoice for the remaining amount. Planning ahead is recommended, as tables fill up quickly for this special night.



Celebrations in the Square

After dinner, visitors often head toward the main square. Avenida Hidalgo offers additional dining options if you haven’t reserved a table, and the central plaza becomes the hub for New Year’s Eve festivities.


Although official New Year’s Eve plans for Isla Mujeres have not yet been announced, celebrations are expected to take place in the main square, with music and dancing continuing into the early hours of January 1st. We will update this page once details are released.


Fireworks, live music, and dancing continue late into the night, creating a lively atmosphere for ringing in the New Year.

Taxis

If you're looking to get across the island on New Year's Eve you may want to take a taxi. ASAP Service is not guaranteed from 9PM on December 31st, until 9AM on Janaury 1st. However, you can book taxis in advance now.

Early Morning Tradition

For those who want a memorable start to 2026, Punta Sur is a popular spot to watch the first sunrise of the year.


At 7:20 AM on January 1st, you can see the sun’s rays touch Mexico for the first time, marking a unique way to welcome the New Year.
