Rancho "Capricho" RANCHO "CAPRICHO" Are you looking for the best tacos on the island? At Rancho "Capricho" they claim to have them, located on Isla Mujeres’ south point, Punta Sur, you can find some fresh and flavorsome tacos that will leave you wanting more. Placed between El Borracho Burro and The Joint, this is a great spot to stop in for some lunch or an afternoon snack while out exploring the island. La Cueva de la Cherna LA CUEVA DE LA CHERNA Located on the corner of the crossroads of Avenida Hidalgo, opposite Stingray, on the street that leads up to the beach, Playa Norte, in downtown Isla Mujeres, you will find a little red building ... a cute family run restaurant, with incredible food, and amazing prices. La Cueva de la Cherna is a lesser-known breakfast and lunch spot on Isla Mujeres, but a popular option with those that know of it, and who return time after time. With large portions and cheaper prices available, they are open from morning until night. They have a large menu of some great Mexican breakfasts of chilaquiles, huevos rancheros (ranch eggs), or any styles of eggs that you choose, they also have hot cakes, fruit plates and more. For lunch or for a snack, they offer up some delicious options including kekas or quesadillas as they are more commonly known, enchiladas, tacos, tortas, nachos and burritos, chicken in mole, fish and ceviche... to name just a few of the options available. There are also some delicious vegetarian options available. This is a small spot, and they do have limited seating, but it is worth the wait if it is busy. You can choose to sit inside, where it can get a little hot as they are cooking directly in front of you, or you can sit on the street outside. They will also give you your food to go. Mamitas Burger MAMITAS BURGER Mamita’s Burger is a hamburger spot in downtown Isla Mujeres, located on the corner of Avenida Guerrero, close to Stingray restaurant. It opened in December 2025 and is run by the same chef who was behind La Neta Burger, which operated inside Balu Hostel until its closure in 2022. The menu focuses on beef burgers served with fries, with familiar favorites and house options. Choices include the Hang Loose Burger with beef, cheese, and aioli, the Caribbean Burger with beef, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and Mamita’s sauce, and the Mamita’s Burger with beef, caramelized onion jam, cheese, mushrooms, and Mamita’s sauce.
