Here we will give you the opportunity to try on/test our gear for size before we head to the boat. Our dock is just a short walk from the dive center (your equipment is transported to the dock for you). Our boat captain and staff will assist you onto our boat and from here we will head out across the crystal clear bay of Isla Mujeres. You will be able to see some of the interesting sites of both Isla Mujeres and Cancun on the ride out to the reef. Once at the dive site we will be spending approximately 45 minutes underwater on each dive (this is the diving limit set by the National Park in order to protect the reef). Deep dives may be subject to shorter dive times and will include a safety stop before returning to the boat. All of our dive tours are two tanks, each tank at a different dive site - except for our night dives which are just one tank. After your final dive, we will return to the dive center office to fill in logbooks and review photos of the dives. - Frequently Asked Questions - Q. I lost my certification card. Can I still dive? A. If you do not have physical proof of your certification such as your dive card or certification confirmation email, it is possible for a member of our staff to look up your certification number on the PADI, SSI, NAUI online databases. If we cannot find your cannot find your certification in the online database, you should contact the dive center at which you completed the certification and ask them to send you proof of certification. Q. I want to try scuba diving, but I recently had heart surgery. Is it safe for me to dive? A. When you sign up for your first scuba diving experience you will be asked to fill in our medical questionnaire. This questionnaire details around 20 different medical conditions that could cause a problem while diving – such as a history of heart surgery. If you have one of these conditions, we will require written consent from a family doctor which clears you for scuba diving activity. It is important to note that just because you have one of the conditions, does not mean that you cannot scuba dive. It just means it needs further investigation from a medical professional before you are deemed eligible to dive. Q. I started my PADI Open Water course at another dive shop, but I never finished it. What should I do? A. If you began your PADI Open Water dive course in the last year with another dive center, and you have the signed paperwork detailing the portions of the course you have completed, you are eligible for an Open Water referral. This means you will only be required to complete the outstanding parts of the course with us and then we can certify you as a PADI Open Water Diver. This option is significantly cheaper than the full course. If you do not have the paperwork from your last dive center you should write to them and ask for a copy. Referrals are only valid for one year, therefore if you started the course before then you will need to begin the entire Open Water course from the beginning again. Q. What is the minimum age for scuba diving? A. Children are eligible to get their PADI Junior Open Water certification from the age of 10-years-old. They can also try the PADI Discover Scuba Diver course from this age. Those age 8-years-old and upwards can try scuba diving as part of the PADI Bubblemaker program – this does not involve diving in open water but in confined water under close supervision. Those under the age of 8 who want to explore the water can do so on one of our snorkel tours. Q. I want to dive, but my friend would rather snorkel. Is there an option for us both? A. The underwater museum (MUSA) and Manchones reef are perfect sites for both diving and snorkeling. Neither site is more than 10m deep and with visibility of over 20m on good days, it is possible to see everything snorkeling from the surface. Our dive and snorkel tours go from the same boat meaning you and your friend can be together for the tour and will only separate once in the water.
