Areia AREIA Areia Beach Club at Mayan Monkey hostel (previously known as Nomads) has a large beach area, a bar, and a swimming pool. The property opened as Mayan Monkey in April 2024. You can go by and check out this great space, with its chic atmosphere, and Tulum-style vibes. Hang out in the hammocks with a refreshing drink, or on one of the cushions and lounge beds on the beach, there is free WiFi available. Play some games with friends, including Ping Pong or Giant Jenga. There is a big dock where you can jump off for a swim, as well as paddleboards available to use. Mininos II MININOS II This seafood restaurant located mid-island is the hangout for Isla Mujeres’ locals looking for a fresh catch of the day. From fish ceviche to grilled octopus, to coconut shrimp, all dishes serve up the true taste of the Caribbean. Mininos II has become something of an island institution (building on the popularity of the original Mininos which was located in the downtown area), and despite having plenty of tables, it quite often gets busy so you may need to wait to be seated. Ruben's RUBEN'S An all-time island favorite amongst locals and visitors alike, Ruben’s restaurant is a must-try while you’re on Isla Mujeres, with delicious and affordable Mexican food, in an intimate and cozy environment! With a change of location in 2024, you can now find Ruben's on the island's main bar and restaurant strip Avenida Hidalgo, close to the main square. Ruben’s restaurant was created by Ruben Chavez Martinez, a well-known member of the community here on Isla Mujeres, because of his big heart, always there for the children of Isla Mujeres, and the adults also in need. Ruben Chavez Martinez passed away in September 2020 after hospitalization due to Covid-19 with underlying health issues. He is missed!
