Rainy Days in Paradise

Are you visiting Isla Mujeres, and experiencing some rainy days in paradise? We are here to help you make the most of the island’s tropical rain showers and have fun without the sun.

Isla Mujeres is an island in Mexico’s Caribbean sunshine, however, it also gets some refreshing rainy days to cool us all off, and remind us that it is a tropical paradise with unpredictable weather! While you may be visiting during the ‘wet season’ with online forecasts showing rain every day, the likelihood is that you may only experience a shower or two, however, you might want to come prepared with some ideas of activities to keep you and your family, or friends busy, full of fun and food for a few days bad weather if the forecast is correct.

Play with Kitties

If you're an animal lover, why not take a visit to Clinica Veterinaria, otherwise known as Delfino’s? Here you can meet lots of wonderful kittens and cats up for adoption, spend some time with them, play, and maybe even take one home with you. This is a great indoor activity to do on a rainy day with children when visiting the island, with a dedicated cat room of all ages, allowing you to give the kittens some much-needed playtime, and attention and love for the older cats also.

Get Pampered

A rainy day in paradise is the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind, and pamper yourself, with many options to choose from on the island. You can destress with a massage, get your nails done, make your feet beach-ready with a pedicure, have a relaxing facial, lash lift, or unique aesthetic treatment with Marsha, or even make an appointment to get your hair done with Ursula, #TreatYourSelf.

Buy/Bring Some Board Games

A perfect activity for a rainy day is sitting at home, a cafe, or a bar and playing a pack of cards or a board game. You can bring one with you from home or purchase one at the island's supermarket, Chedraui. You can leave it for the next renters or donate it when you leave.

Snorkel or Dive

If it's raining and you're already getting wet, why not take advantage of the weather and explore underwater? You won't even notice the rain with a snorkeling or scuba diving trip in Isla Mujeres. This is a perfect opportunity to witness the island's crystal-clear Caribbean coast, abundant with colorful and breath takingbreathtakingbreathtakingbreathtaking marine life.

Get Delivery from your Favorite Restaurants

Do you fancy ordering a takeaway instead of going out to a bar or restaurant in the rain? Why not get delivery from your favorite restaurant with Taste of Isla Delivery? Order pizzas, hamburgers, steaks, freshly prepared seafood, pasta, desserts, and many more tasty dishes from some of Isla Mujeres' best dining spots direct to you, so you can veg out with a movie, or host a games night in your vacation rental.

Host a Private Tasting and Pairing with your Friends

Are you and your friends looking for a unique activity to do on a rainy day in Isla Mujeres? Keep dry, but stay refreshed, and book your tasting experience (you will need six days' notice, so check out the weather forecast), and have David come over to take you on a guided journey of the history, production, tastes, aromas, and pairings of your chosen drink.

Go Shopping for Souvenirs, or Make your own Souvenir at an Island Boutique or Gallery

Spend a day exploring the island’s boutiques and galleries, with art, handcrafts, handmade jewelry, and more. At the Women’s Beading Co-Op, you can do a class upon request, or watch as the ladies there make beautiful beaded jewelry and accessorize available to buy … go by and check them out, it is well worth a visit. Or why not head to Nalu Art Gallery, and pick up a unique souvenir, browse the gorgeous art work, and see what workshops they have available that you may be able to participate in? You can also dine here, in their jungle-like setting, under a sheltered dining area. There are lots of boutiques and shops available so that you can enjoy some retail therapy while dodging raindrops.

Get a Tattoo

Looking to take a piece of Isla Mujeres home with you to keep forever? You could use an island rain day as an opportunity to get a tattoo.

Have a Private Chef Cook a Delicious Meal

Instead of heading out in the rain, or ordering food for delivery, why not fill your vacation rental with the smell of delicious fresh food being cooked by a private chef? You can have a private chef come to your rental (kitchen and advanced notice required), to cook for you and your family and friends. This is a perfect rainy evening at home, while on vacation in paradise.

Do a Tour off of the Island

Rainy days in Isla Mujeres are the perfect opportunity to escape paradise, and head to the mainland for an off island tour, such as a trip to the famous Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza, or to the colonial city of Valladolid. Take an off island tour, and explore somewhere new for the day.

Book a Private Yoga Class at your Property

If you have an indoor space at your vacation rental, why not have a private yoga class for you and your family or friends, or relax and meditate with another unique wellness experience, such as a sound healing session with Wu Wave Sound?

Visit the Island’s Bars and Restaurants

And of course, our favorite thing to do is check out the island’s bars and restaurants! This is what you will find many fellow visitors doing during rainy days on Isla Mujeres, it's a great way to meet new people, and sample some delicious food and drinks while continuing the ongoing search for your favorite island restaurant!
